The World Economic Forum's 2026 Sustainable Development Impact Meetings were held in New York from September 21 to 24. Dr. Xuefeng Yu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CanSinoBIO, attended the meetings and engaged with participants from around the world on topics including technological innovation, health and sustainable development. This follows CanSinoBIO's participation in the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, in Dalian in June, marking another consecutive invitation to a key World Economic Forum agenda this year.
During the discussions, Dr. Yu noted that artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced data tools are creating new opportunities for innovation in biopharmaceuticals. As technologies for disease surveillance, scientific data analysis and artificial intelligence continue to evolve, these tools have the potential to help researchers identify disease signals earlier, improve the use of scientific data, accelerate the discovery of potential vaccines and therapeutics, and enhance the efficiency of R&D and clinical development. For the vaccine industry, technological innovation can not only accelerate the development of innovative products but also help improve access to innovative vaccines and contribute to reducing the burden of disease.
In recent years, CanSinoBIO has continued to advance innovation in vaccine R&D while expanding its global footprint. According to the company's 2026 interim report, CanSinoBIO recorded approximately RMB 550 million in revenue in the first half of the year, representing a 43.8% year-on-year increase. Overseas revenue reached RMB 152 million, marking a growing contribution from the company's international business. Menhycia® (MCV4), Asia's first quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine, has obtained marketing authorization in markets including Indonesia and Argentina. An inhaled tuberculosis vaccine (TB Booster) has received approval to conduct a Phase I clinical trial in Indonesia, while the Phase II clinical trial of the recombinant poliovirus vaccine (VLP-Polio) in Indonesia has generated positive results.
At the same time, CanSinoBIO continues to expand its domestic innovative vaccine portfolio. Menhycia® has expanded its indicated population to children aged 3 months to 6 years, with a supplemental application for use in individuals aged 7 to 17 years accepted for review in July. The company's 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, iPneucia® (PCV13i), continues to advance market access, while PCV24 (CRM197/TT) has entered Phase I/II clinical stage, with participant enrollment progressing as planned. In the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine portfolio, Tripecia® (DT3cP) for infants and young children has been approved for commercialization, the NDA for Td5cp for adolescents and adults has been accepted and has been granted priority review, and Tetcia® (adsorbed tetanus vaccine) has been approved for commercialization. The Phase I clinical trial of the innovative DT3cP-Hib-MCV4 combination vaccine for infants and young children is also progressing as planned.
From innovative R&D to product development and commercialization, and from domestic markets to international markets, CanSinoBIO continues to extend the reach of its innovations to broader populations. Looking ahead, the company will remain focused on vaccine innovation and actively explore and advance the application of AI and other emerging technologies and tools in R&D, with the aim of making innovative, high-quality and affordable vaccines available to more people and contributing to reducing the burden of disease.
