CanSinoBIO's MCV4 Receives Registration Approval in Argentina, Expanding Global Reach

2026.06.25

June 25, 2026 — CanSino Biologics Inc. (SSE: 688185, HKEX: 06185) is pleased to announce that the Company's ACYW135 Meningococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine (CRM197) (the "MCV4",  trade name: Menhycia®) has recently received the drug registration certificate granted by the Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnología Médica (ANMAT) of Argentina. This approval represents another important milestone in the international development of CanSinoBIO's innovative vaccine products and further strengthens the Company's presence in South America.

Meningococcal meningitis is a serious infectious disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis. Characterized by rapid onset and severe progression, posing significant health risks, particularly to infants and children1. Among meningococcal serogroups, A, C, Y, and W135 are major causes of invasive meningococcal disease worldwide. Vaccination remains one of the most effective public health measures for the prevention of meningococcal infection and related diseases.

Menhycia® (MCV4) is the first quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine approved in China. It provides protection against meningococcal serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. Compared with traditional polysaccharide vaccines, conjugate vaccines offer advantages including stronger immune responses, longer-lasting protection, and reduced bacterial carriage, thereby helping to lower the risk of disease transmission.

Currently, Menhycia® (MCV4) has been approved in China for use in children aged 3 months to 6 years (83 months). The vaccine stimulates the body to generate immunity against Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W135 and is indicated for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by these serogroups. In addition, CanSinoBIO has completed the clinical study summary report for the age expansion of Menhycia® (MCV4) to individuals aged 7–59 years and is preparing the relevant supplemental application.

With continued efforts to advance the international registration and development of key products, Menhycia® (MCV4) has achieved important progress in overseas markets. In December 2024, Menhycia® (MCV4) received approval from the Indonesian National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) and has since been launched locally with initial supply. The Company continues to explore further development opportunities for expanded applications of the product.

Previously, CanSinoBIO's recombinant COVID-19 vaccine received emergency use authorization in Argentina in 2021. The registration of MCV4 marks another important achievement for CanSinoBIO in Argentina, providing an additional high-quality vaccine option for meningococcal disease prevention and creating opportunities for future cooperation in Argentina and South America, while reflecting recognition of the Company's innovative vaccine products by international regulatory authorities and demonstrating continued progress in its global development strategy.

According to the World Health Organization's Defeating Meningitis by 2030: A Global Road Map, by 2030, the world aims to reduce vaccine-preventable bacterial meningitis cases by 50% and deaths by 70%2  compared with 2015 levels, while eliminating epidemics of bacterial meningitis, reducing disability, and improving quality of life for affected populations. Innovative vaccines play a critical role in achieving these global public health goals.

Going forward, CanSinoBIO will continue to focus on global public health needs and advance its international development strategy through innovation-driven growth. By exploring diversified cooperation models, including technology transfer, intermediate product supply, and finished product supply, the Company aims to bring more high-quality innovative vaccines to countries and regions worldwide and contribute to improving global health accessibility.
