FDA approves Sanofi's Menactra as meningococcal booster

 September 11, 2014

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently recommends that adolescents receive one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine at age 11 or 12, followed by a booster vaccination at age 16. And as of this week, with an FDA approval for booster immunization, Sanofi's ($SNY) Menactra can now fulfill both of those guidelines. The new nod could boost sales of the French drugmaker's vaccine, a lift it could use after Menactra's top-line haul in 2013 sank to 424 million in a 21.5% slide.
